SEBTA was an amazing experience and I feel extremely honoured and proud to be a part of it. It was lovely to meet all the competitors along with their lecturers the night before the competition. In the competition room on the day the atmosphere was so positive and everyone just wanted to do their best, all the competitors were supportive of each other. We were all overwhelmed by the number of important and inspiring individuals within the beauty industry who attended the event and the award ceremony. I feel that this award recognises my dedication and devotion to progressing within the beauty industry and my continuous drive to improving my skills.

The Carlton competition not only celebrates the best electrical student in the country but created a real buzz in the students at Chichester. I have already been approached by a student who is interested for next year. Both Michelle and I felt very spoilt. This was very unexpected and very welcome. It is not often that we get time as lecturers to celebrate the success of our students or our skills in enabling them to achieve high standards. The experience has given both my student and I renewed passion for our industry and the drive to continue with our high standards. Thank you again to all who were involved. It was an excellent experience. I will be hoping to attend again.

CARLTON ANNOUNCES WINNER OF SEBTA 2011

The Carlton Group has announced that the winner of SEBTA 2011 is Michelle Lincoln from Chichester College.

The award, which was presented to Michelle at the Grand Final in Brighton on 21st June 2011 in front of invited guests, journalists, fellow finalists and lecturers from the finalist colleges, celebrates the very best in facial electrotherapy.

The lucky winner was presented with £500 and their prestigious SEBTA 2011 trophy and will receive a Carlton Professional Ultraderm machine. The winning lecturer, Anne-Marie Stewart received £250, whilst the winning college, Chichester College, received a cheque for £1000.

Second prize was awarded to Melanie Squire from Derby College, whilst third prize went to Diane Williams from Warwickshire College – Rugby Centre. Runners up included Kerry Bell from Dumfries & Galloway College, Jayne Tudor from Wirral Metropolitan College and Karen Wright from South Downs College.

The first of its kind in the UK, the Student Electrotherapy Beauty Therapist Award (SEBTA) is open to all Level 3 students, or above, whatever their age. The competition is not exclusive to colleges using Carlton Professional equipment.
